Bringing a brand new character into one of the big 2 is risky business, so it's usually best to introduce them in team books so you can have other characters to fall back on and draw readers, while also having more of a safety net while you figure out the new addition.
Which brings us to Starling, new addition to the team after the New 52 went into effect. Evelyn Crawford was an old friend of Black Canary who joined the team when Dinah recommended her. Starling was tough, always ready for action, and seemingly very protective of the team due to her being the most vocally against Poison Ivy joining the group.
But then someone should have enlightened her about rocks and glass houses.
In a thoroughly confusing heel turn for the character, Starling sells out the team to Mr. Freeze, shifting into a full time villain in the process. We haven't heard much out of her since, probably because the writers aren't sure where to go with her after such a complete 180 of her character. But hopefully she will return for a much needed do-over.
