What Happened To Everyone Who Joined The Guardians Of The Galaxy?

Wait, hold up, Drax's backstory used to be WHAT?!

It's a strange thing, being an obscure book in one of the big two that chugs along for decades regardless. You kinda live in this weird space in an otherwise set universe, where you can just kinda do whatever you want because hey, who up in editorial is gonna send down a note saying that you're changing your status quo too much? After all, before 2014, no one gave a god damn hoot about the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Guardians of the Galaxy began all the way back in the 1970s, and have just been kicking around the Marvel cosmic universe ever since. Their books would get cancelled on and off, their teams would change on a dime, save for a few key members, and generally the almighty Marvel status quo never touched them.

At least until they got big, but that's a story for another time. The point being made today is that because of this freedom, a LOT of Marvel heroes both big and small have become members over the years.

So strap yourself in and get yourself a snack, because this one is gonna be a yarn. This is every member of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, and whatever the hell happened to them after they left.

It only makes sense to start off with the core members that everyone has actually heard of before getting into the obscure stuff.

The original Guardians of the Galaxy looked nothing like how they do in the movies, with almost none of the members you're familiar with being on the team. All except, of course, for Yondu Udonta. Unlike the other members, he actually wasn't born in the Milky Way galaxy, instead originally hailing from Centauri 4.

Other notable changes from his MCU counterpart include having a whole quiver of Yaka Arrows instead of just one, having to fire them from a bow and THEN control them with his whistling, and actually joining with other Marvel hero teams later on, such as the Defenders and the Avengers.

Yondu is still around the Marvel universe, of course, but his days of headlining the Guardians are long behind him now that James Gunn has established a more iconic roster for the team (and killed him off in the movies, so you know, awkward).
