What Happened To Everyone Who Killed Batman?

"Sklutch" is a sound none of us want to hear coming from our head, but even more so when there's an evil god-like figure standing behind you.

As depicted in the accompanying image, that sound was generated by Ultraman putting his fist through the skull of Bruce Wayne. Unsurprisingly, that did indeed mean the death of Batman.

When this most disturbing of acts happened during Countdown to Final Crisis, Ultraman was a villainous version of Superman as part of the Crime Syndicate of Earth-3. Known as Kal-Ell, this rogue was sent to Earth-3 on a mission of vengeance - encapsulated by how he'd trick drug addicts Martha and Jonathan Kent into taking him in, before then callously murdering them.

So, it came as no real surprise when Ultraman thought nothing of killing Batman - although the caveat here is that the Dark Knight in question was the Batman of Earth-51.

It's been a muddied history for Ultraman in the days since then, with two versions of the character technically in existence - the original Ultraman and his New 52 iteration - and it's often been unknown just which version of the rogue is in the spotlight whenever A.N. Ultraman has been spotted in the pages of DC Comics over the past decade or more.
