Where To Start With... Wolverine Comics

Wolverine's Best Fights

Wolverine and Hulk One thing that you will get in most stories involving Wolverine is a good fight scene. He has fought against almost every hero, villain and grey area mutant in the Marvel Universe. So there is a lot to see and read. The films use this element of the character; he sets up the major fight scenes in the films. Just look at the awesome assault on the mansion in X2.Wolverine vs. Sabretooth, Wolverine Vol. 2 #90SabretoothvsWolverine1_2 Sabretooth may be the biggest thorn in the side of Wolverine; he is committed to making Logan's life miserable and is seen as one of the X-Men's greatest enemies. This early issue of Wolverine's first series explored their rivalry in great depth. Sabretooth was responsible for murdering Wolverine's lover, Silver Fox. Sabretooth is one of the few that can match Wolverine and actually give him a severe beatings. Worse again, these beatdowns are an annual tradition. Wolverine learned to dread his birthday as this would mark the resumption of warfare between these two. Over the years they have gone back and forth, Wolverine would eventually beat the odds and best his rival with the help of his adamantium claws. This conflict was adapted for the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In the film, Sabretooth killed Silver Fox and brutally attacked Wolverine, convincing him to volunteer for the Weapon X program. Of course, he realized too late that the entire ordeal was staged by William Stryker. Perhaps exploring this plot would have made a better movie. Wolverine vs. Deadpool, Wolverine vol. 2 #88deadpool-vs-wolverine Deadpool, a failed after effect of the Weapon X program, is a regular face in the life of Wolverine. The "Merc with a mouth" is no stranger to Wolverine and is another who can actually beat Logan in combat. In this issue, Wolverine stumbled upon Deadpool for their first big face-to-face. The battle is brutal, with guns blazing, claws slashing and stabbing galore. What is most interesting about this battle is that Wade Wilson actually beat the adamantium-free Wolverine. This is one of his best fight because it would set up their feud which is still on going to this very day. Honourable Mentions: Wolverine vs. Deadpool: Cable & Deadpool #43, Wolverine vs. The Hulk: Incredible Hulk€ #330. The Wolverine is in cinemas now.
