Even though Captain America usually dukes it out with the Red Skull, the patriotic superhero has a smorgasbord of enemies. In his early years, he tangled with Nazi soldiers, evil scientists, and deranged fascists.
But after he was absorbed into the then burgeoning Marvel universe in the 1960s, Winghead found himself against a whole plethora of new foes.
With the help of the Avengers, Cap has led Earth's mightiest heroes into battle against costumed supervillains, werewolves, cyborgs, terrorist organisations and Nazi vampires. (Only in the world of comics can you say "Nazi vampires" with a straight face.)
Even though Steve Rogers has clashed with every supervillain under the Sun, many people struggle to name even some of the more regular foes he's faced in the comics. If your knowledge of the shield-hurling Avenger stems purely from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that mightn't help, as characters like Arnim Zola, Batroc the Leaper, Flagsmasher, and Baron Von Strucker look so different in the comics compared to their MCU counterpart, you wouldn't even think they're the same character.
