10 2016 Movie Characters Who Probably Died Horrible Deaths

3. Woody Harrelson - Triple 9

10 Cloverfield Lane Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Open Road Films

John Hillcoat's ensemble crime thriller wraps up with police sergeant Jeffrey Allen (Woody Harrelson) getting into a gunfight with corrupt detective Franco Rodriguez (Clifton Collins, Jr.).

Rodriguez is killled, and the film's final moments show a wounded Allen lighting up a cigarette and staring at the camera, before the screen freezes and fades to black.

It's an ambiguous note to end on: was Allen's semi-vacant final stare his dying gaze, or will his approaching nephew Chris (Casey Affleck) manage to get him medical attention in time?

It seems more likely going by the movie's grim tone (where almost everyone else dies) that Allen's fate was to bleed out in the backseat of a car while covered in Rodriguez's gory remains and waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Yuck.
