10 2017 Movies That Could Score 100% On Rotten Tomatoes

Author Jeff VanderMeer’s sci-fi book sees four women travelling to a mysterious environmental disaster area. One of the women is looking for her husband, who went missing on a previous mission there. The book is an eerie, melancholy story about a woman trying to connect with her estranged husband, while resisting the lure of this dangerous zone where people slowly go insane.

Alex Garland, who nailed his directorial debut with Ex Machina, is behind the camera for this, with Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Oscar Issac filling out the cast. 2017 is lining up to be a great year for big budget, thoughtful sci-fi, and with this combo of talent behind the camera and working from a fantastic book, Annihilation has no excuse if it sucks.

At the very least it should be the sleeper hit of the year, and if all goes well there are another two books in the series to adapt.
