4. "Hold Me, Like You Did By The Lake On Naboo..." - Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
George Lucas isn't a very good screenwriter. He's not great a plot. He's not particularly accomplished at writing characters. Worst of all, though? His dialogue. The man pens dialogue like he's writing notes that are gonna be turned into dialogue at a later point, when he can be bothered - like, in a second draft or something. Case in point: this freakin' line in Revenge of the Sith, which is probably supposed to be romantic or something, but feels like a phrase one robot might say to another robot in order to mock humans. "Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo..." says Padme to Anakin Skywalker. Why so specific? Why mention Naboo? Wouldn't a simple "Hold me" have worked instead? Please, George, why don't you try and write something with a little emotion attached?
