8. Lex Luthor - Superman
This early comic book classic has a wonderfully loopy plot to form Lex Luthor's evil plan; he intercepts two nuclear missiles which are being tested, and aims for their destinations to be altered. This happens, but one of his hapless, idiotic cronies enters the wrong location, causing one of the two missiles to head right to the hometown of Luthor's girlfriend, Eve Teschmacher, in Hackensack, New Jersey. Thus, after Luthor overpowers Superman with Kryptonite and explains to him the location of the missiles, Supes manages to negotiate his release with Eve, on the condition that he save her family in Hackensack. And so we see, not only is the scheme itself immensely contrived, but so too is the manner in which it is resolved; if only Luthor's goon hadn't redirected the missile so conveniently to Hackensack, then Supes wouldn't have had a single thing to bargain with Eve about. It's ridiculous.
