10 Accidents That Cursed The Sets Of Major Comic Book Movies
8. Penile Trauma And The Misbehaving Claws - X-Men
You really have to hand it to Hugh Jackman - he came to play Wolverine in the first X-Men movie pretty late in the day (which is why he was never as vascular in that movie as he'd later get for the role) and he still managed to nail the role. And that's despite a catalogue of injuries across all of his movies.
The first movie saw him catch his penis in a harness while falling down the side of the Statue Of Liberty (which he described as "pretty brutal", no sh*t), and he also crashed into a camera and mangled his ear.
He also almost castrated himself again shooting the sequel when he stabbed himself in the upper thigh with his claws while running naked in a flashback scene. Arguably the worst - and closest to life-changing - came on the same set when he accidentally stabbed himself in the face next to his left eye, leaving a scar.
"That was me just following through and not quite having control of my limbs."
He then thought he'd broken his neck on The Wolverine set when his head was caught while swinging onto the outside of a train, prompting his wife to challenge him: "She goes ‘You’ve got a stunt double. Stop. Is this a midlife crisis?’”
