10 Accidents That Cursed The Sets Of Major Comic Book Movies
7. RDJ's Ankle - Iron Man 3
The production of Iron Man 3 saw Robert Downey Jr pull a Harrison Ford by injuring his ankle while filming at the Port of Wilmington in North Carolina and putting the shoot on hold while he recuperated.
Depending on which report you believe, Downey Jr.’s injury was either a broken ankle or a twisted ankle, but it was enough to temporarily halt production (you don't risk your Ace card for anything) on a shoot that was already complex for Marvel to set up in the first place thanks to permits and security clearance.
The fact that it took almost six weeks to get him back to filming suggests it was a break, though details remain a little unclear. But it would have cost the studio, as they were forced to get help from WETA to digitally construct a fake Tony Stark using a body double and facial captures.
