3. Air Force One (1997)

Just to show that imitation McClane's can never be too old, Harrison Ford did his own version of Die Hard in this 1997 rip off that borrowed from Snipes' Passenger 57 as well. While Harrison wasn't quite old enough for his bus pass just yet, at 55 he was old enough to play a US President. And except for a few notable exceptions (Barak Obama for instance) most US Presidents are near if not over retirement age. When terrorist Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) and his Radek rogues take over President Marshall's (Ford) plane, it's up to him to save the day. After they've taken control of the plane, two of his Secret Service men take Marshall to the escape pod. Instead of using it, he sends if off empty. The terrorists believe that he's gone and they then use his wife and daughter as leverage for their plan to rescue a colleague who's been imprisoned by the USA. But President Marshall is not another of those National Guard serving rulers. He's actually experienced combat in Vietnam and is a distinguished veteran. Using his combat know-how and subterfuge to mislead the terrorists. He saves the day John McClane style against Oldman's nasty villain.
