The Machinist Christian Bale
Newmarket Films

2003’s Monster had the glamorous Charlize Theron playing American serial killer, Aileen Wuornos. For the role, to accurately convey the street prostitute turned killer, Theron ditched all traces of her identity and put on 30 pounds. Toni G, the film’s makeup artist went to great lengths to make Theron Wuornos.

Winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for the role just to goes to show how deep the South African actor went into the character.

Going back into the grotesque, Theron played Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. Alongside the titular character, portrayed by Tom Hardy, Theron looked much slimmer for the role, and rocked a buzzed haircut, and had to work around a synthetic arm.

Speaking in an interview upon the movie’s release, Charlize says that she was incredibly excited about the role. She spoke of the challenges to portray the character in the right way, but she clearly did so with phenomenal success.
