10 Actors That Tried Being Action Heroes And Failed Miserably
1. Ben Affleck
It seems painfully ironic that Ben Affleck's most recent attempt at leading an action-driven franchise saw him surprise everyone by being much better than expected in a role that a role that a very vocal section of people never wanted him to have in the first place.
Affleck's grizzled veteran Batman had the potential to be an all-timer, but he was let down by the generally poor quality of the movies that he appeared in, and ultimately departed the DCEU altogether before getting the chance to give his version of the Caped Crusader a definitive solo outing.
To be fair, it was about time he made his mark as an action hero given how many chances he'd been given over the years, which resulted in him fumbling most of them. Armageddon, Reindeer Games, Pearl Harbor, The Sum of All Fears, Daredevil, Paycheck and The Accountant may all have their fans, and some of them did decent numbers at the box office, but it would be an almighty stretch to say that Affleck was the highlight of any of them.
Following his exit from the DCEU it seems unlikely that he'll ever venture into the genre again now that he's got his second career as an acclaimed filmmaker to fall back on, and that's probably the wisest decision for all involved.
