10 Actors That Tried Being Action Heroes And Failed Miserably

3. Sam Worthington

Sam Worthington exploded out of nowhere, and was plucked from obscurity and then immediately dropped right towards the top end of the Hollywood A-list.

His Stateside career got off to a blistering start after he took second billing behind Christian Bale and got his name on the poster in Terminator Salvation despite nobody knowing who he was, and followed it up by playing Avatar's lead in what became the highest-grossing movie in history and then steering Clash of the Titans to almost half a billion dollars at the box office.

Despite such a hot start, Worthington has never managed to recapture anything close to that momentum again, and despite trying to gain a foothold in the action realm with the likes of The Debt, Man on a Ledge and The Hunter's Prayer, he's found much greater success as part of an ensemble cast in a variety of different genres, and the upcoming Avatar sequels will mark his highest-profile roles in years.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
