6. Julia Sawalha - Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget

There are plenty of reasons to be excited for Netflix's Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the long-awaited sequel to Aardman Animations' stop-motion animation classic.

While it wasn't exactly a surprise that controversy-magnet Mel Gibson wasn't invited back to portray male lead Rocky, it was more of a surprise that Julia Sawalha wasn't offered to reprise the role of female lead Ginger.

Sawalha broke the news herself on social media, expressing frustration and upset that the sequel's creatives had considered her voice "too old":

"The reason given was that his voice is now too old... I feel I have been fobbed off with the same excuse. I went to great lengths to prove to the production that my voice is nigh on the same as it was in the original film. If they will be using some of the original cast members… Let's be frank, I feel I have been unfairly dismissed... To say I am devastated and furious would be an understatement.
I feel totally powerless, something in all of this doesn't quite ring true. I trust my instincts and they are waving red flags... I am saddened that I have lost the chance to work with Nick Park and Peter Lord from whom I learnt so much. The three of us, together, created Ginger... There is nothing more I can do… I'm off for the chop now."

Though Sawalha still wished the production team the best, it's easy to appreciate her upset, especially as she ultimately ended up being replaced by Thandiwe Newton, who is a mere four years younger.

Needless to say we'll assume Sawalha won't be checking out the sequel, which would presumably be quite the painful experience for her.
