10 Actors Who Are Actually Brilliant Musicians

8. Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves has been playing bass longer than he's been acting. He's even played at festivals in the UK with his band Dogstar. Not only does he play bass, he also likes to take the odd vocal as well, as can be seen on the YouTube clip accompanying this entry. Unlike so many actors who opt for the country/rock approach, Dogstar followed the indie pop/punk route, releasing two albums.

Reeves is a Hollywood megastar, primarily for playing action roles these days, although earlier in his career he filmed a number of successful comedies, most notably the 'Bill And Ted' franchise. Reeves is seen playing guitar in these movies, although he isn't responsible for any of the shred guitar soloing that is heard on the film's soundtrack.

In recent years, Reeves has admitted that he thinks the music that Dogstar recorded wasn't that great. That said, he is perhaps being a little harsh on himself as they were a credible band with songs that admittedly weren't breaking any new ground, but that didn't disgrace themselves in the context of the festivals and shows that the band often performed at.
