10 Actors Who Are UNRECOGNISABLE In Upcoming Horror Movies

Carmen Maura is a legendary Spanish actress best known to English-speaking audiences for her memorable performances in several Pedro Almodóvar movies, most notably Women on The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Volver. But Maura, who typically gravitates towards dramatic and comedy work, will show a whole other side of herself in the upcoming Argentine horror Vieja Loca, aka Crazy Old Lady, as will be produced by J.A. Bayona (Society of the Snow).

Maura will star as Alicia, a senile elderly woman who refuses to let her daughter's ex-boyfriend - who is temporarily caring for her - leave her house. 

The single image from the film released so far shows Maura looking like audiences have never seen her before, sporting a diabolic grin and piercing, dark eyes. It certainly doesn't hurt that Maura is captured here in eerie low light, ensuring she gives off an altogether unnerving, sinister vibe. And considering the actress' well-honed chops across a career spanning more than half a century, there's no doubt she'll have a damn feast with this juicy role.
