10 Actors Who Are Unrecognisable In Upcoming Movies
3. Michelle Williams - Showing Up
Michelle Williams is instantly recognisable for, above all else, her distinctive, perfectly preened blonde bob and generally immaculate appearance, but she'll be massively changing things up for her latest collaboration with acclaimed director Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy, First Cow).
Williams plays a sculptor struggling to balance her personal and professional life, and as is evident from the single image released so far, she's undergone quite the makeover for the role.
Reviewing the film from its recent Cannes premiere, Variety described Williams as having a "wavy mop of brown hair" that made her look "frumpy," which combined with her dressed-down choice of attire - apparently including crocs and "sensible" clothes - is a far cry from the pristine hairstyle and wardrobe she normally wears on-screen.
Add in some makeup to give Williams a more tired, sunken-in face and that's a deceptively comprehensive transformation.
Reviews have been unanimously positive so far, with critics in particular praising Williams' committed performance, so the transformation has most certainly paid off.
