9. Tom Sturridge
The Case For: Tom Sturridge was the kid with the Beatles haircut wearing the sharp sixties clothes in The Boat That Rocked. Admittedly all he needed to do was look cool and occasionally smoke cigarettes, but man he did it well. There were high hopes for him following that role, but he hasnt quite found his feet yet. He had a supporting part in On The Road, and has another coming up in Effie. He has the sort of casual good looks that could kick him up to the next level.
The Case Against: Sturridge is a probably a couple of solid roles short of being a real contender. If he really wants to take over from Gosling hell need an indie drama and a romantic role that isnt
Waiting For Forever at the very least. Also, his casual good looks occasionally give you the impression hes half asleep.
