10 Actors Who Could Replace The Avengers

6. Hulk: Sharlto Copley

Marvel have already demonstrated that they are not afraid to make big decisions and recast established characters as and when necessary; Don Cheadle was brought in to take Terrence Howard€™s place as James €˜War Machine€™ Rhodes when contract negotiations hit a sour note, while Edward Norton€™s difficult reputation saw him replaced by Mark Ruffalo when The Avengers needed a new Hulk. Neither Norton nor Ruffalo was the first actor to go green on the big screen €“ Eric Bana was chosen to play the enormous green rage monster in Ang Lee€™s Hulk in 2003, but Mark Ruffalo is generally recognised as the best Banner yet seen. Nevertheless, the Hulk€™s chequered history suggests that Ruffalo will not be the last actor to take on the job. As far as replacements go, Marvel would be wise to consider the candidacy of Sharlto Copley. The South African first came to prominence as Wikus in Neill Blomkamp€™s superb District 9 in 2009, and has since appeared as Murdock in The A-Team and Matt Damon€™s nemesis in Blomkamp€™s Elysium. Copley is about the right age to play Banner, he has the smarts and madcap skittishness to bring something new to the table, and his career hasn€™t take off in such a way as to put him at odds with the Marvel paymasters.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
