Scarlett Johanssons first appearance as Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2 may have felt a little forced, but she definitely proved herself to be a worthy member of the Avengers in their 2012 ensemble film and stole the show in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Much as the bulging Marvel slate makes it an unlikely prospect, we can but hope Black Widow gets the solo outing she deserves at some point in the future. However, if such a thing does happen, it is a long way away and its probably safe to say that by that point it wont be ScarJo getting zipped up in a catsuit. Of course, Johansson wasnt Marvels first choice to play Romanov that honour belongs to Emily Blunt, but when 20th Century Fox exercised their option to have Blunt star in Gullivers Travels, the scheduling problems ultimately ruled her out. Theres little doubt that Blunt would have made an excellent Black Widow, and no reason why the role cant be hers at some point in the future. Time is on her side at 31, and if anything shes an even better candidate now than she was back in 2009 after her performances in Looper and Edge of Tomorrow. Although there are a few other actresses who could do the job (e.g. Olga Kurylenko, Olivia Wilde), Blunt is clearly held in high regard over at Marvel she was also offered the role of Agent Carter before Hayley Atwell and could yet be an Avenger after all.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
