10 Actors Who Deeply Regret Starring In Comic Book Movies

1. George Reeves

Proving that it's not just the stars of modern day superhero movies who regret ever being associated with these characters, the first man who took on the role of Superman hated it so much that it's believed he eventually took his life because of what it did to his career. George Reeves played the Man of Steel on the big screen and later in the Adventures of Superman TV series, becoming an icon in the process. However, despite the fact that he was universally loved, Reeves considered the role beneath him and hated the fact that the show was produced on a shoestring budget. It's not hard to see why the whole thing got Reeves down as the actor referred to his costume (grey and brown so it would look better in black and white) as a "monkey suit." Then there were some humiliating commercials he was forced into for Kelloggs. Now forever associated with Superman, the actor's career was utterly destroyed and he was unable to get any work, with producers going as far as cutting him out of their movies because preview audiences reportedly yelled and laughed at the screen whenever "Superman" showed up. Ultimately forced to return for another season of Adventures of Superman, Reeves tragically took his life shortly after by shooting himself.
