10 Actors Who May Have Given Up Acting

8. Jodie Foster

Nobody can accuse Jodie Foster of being a slouch or squandering her talents - after all, she won two Best Actress Oscars before she was even 30 years of age, and over the last decade has directed two movies as well as a number of awards-nominated TV episodes.

But Foster's acting output has unquestionably slowed, appearing in just two films over the last five years (Elysium and Hotel Artemis), in supporting roles no less.

Foster herself has stated that having children caused her to curtail her acting career in order to spend more time with them, and backing that up, she currently has no new acting assignments on the horizon.

While it's easy to imagine Foster netting herself another Oscar nomination for a one-off performance far in the future, she's clearly far more passionate about directing and raising her family than acting these days.

It's a loss for film fans everywhere, but you can't blame her.
