10 Actors Who Rightly Turned Down Iconic Roles
2. John Krasinski & Emily Blunt - Captain America & Black Widow (MCU)
Recent rumours have been swirling that husband and wife duo John Krasinski and Emily Blunt could be joining the MCU in the not too distant future, playing on screen couple Reed Richards and Sue Storm. They seem perfect for the Fantastic Four, but both have previously turned down MCU roles.
Krasinski got as far as a wardrobe test for Captain America, but it was after seeing himself in the costume that Krasinski turned it down. Despite his all American good looks and ability to bulk up (13 Hours and Jack Ryan prove as much), Krasinski felt he didn’t look like a Captain America and left the project.
Emily Blunt, meanwhile, was offered Black Widow at the same time she was offered Gulliver’s Travels, and apparently felt it was too soon in her career to move into action. Sicario and Edge Of Tomorrow show that’s no longer the case.
Eventual castees Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson had been friends for years prior to their MCU team up. That chemistry was clear to see on screen. Even the real life marriage of Blunt and Krasinski might not have bettered it. Hopefully it’s kept the Krasinski-Blunts clear for the Fantastic Four roles they seem made for.
