10 Actors Who Should Play Future James Bond Movie Villains
2. James McAvoy
James McAvoy can genuinely act more with his eyes than most actors can with their entire body, and if you’ve seen any of his work, you know this isn’t an exaggeration. Also, if you’ve seen either ‘Split’ or ‘Glass’ you shouldn’t need much more of an explanation as to why he would make a fantastic Bond villain.
The man was able to seamlessly transition between entirely different characters without the camera cutting away from his face, making you genuinely believe there were over a dozen personalities knocking around in his head.
Also, as ‘the beast’, McAvoy made himself a serious physical threat. While the animalistic elements of the character wouldn’t translate well into a Bond film, his intensity and ferocity would be absolutely perfect.
Apart from ‘Split’, McAvoy is probably most well-known for his work in the recent X-men films as Charles Xavier. In this role we have seen McAvoy go from a smooth talking, witty student, to a resolute and stoic leader. If you were somehow able to combine the key elements of these two characters, you could create an all new kind of creepy, layered and unpredictable enemy for 007.
Imagine McAvoy’s Professor X. His smooth reserve and intelligence slowly cracking across the film. His mask of control slowly falling away to reveal a broken, powerful and unpredictable man that has nothing left to lose. Now, tell me that’s not the sort of character you want Bond to go up against in future.
