10 Actors Who Sound NOTHING Like You Would Imagine
4. Andrew Garfield
That's right. Tom Holland isn't the only actor to fake an American accent to portray Spider-Man. Since Andrew Garfield's on this list, you may think he's another Brit that's regularly mistaken as a US citizen.
However, the Tony Award-winning perform was born in Los Angeles. At three years old, he moved to Surrey, where he spent most of his life. Because his mother and grandparents are British, it wasn't long before he adopted a thick English timbre.
But since his father is from California, he can pull off an accent from the other side of the Atlantic with ease. This has allowed him to sound American in many career-defining films such as Hacksaw Ridge, The Social Network, and the Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Even when he's working in theatre, he tends to get cast as American characters. After his performances in Broadway's Death of a Salesman and The National Theatre's Angels in America, it convinced his fans even more that his American dialect is genuine.
Because he hasn't had a major hit while using his real voice, a lot of his fans have never heard what he actually sounds like.
