10 Actors Who Sound NOTHING Like You Would Imagine
3. Karl Urban
Karl Urban has been lucky enough to be a part of many franchises including The Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, and the MCU. Not only has he played many iconic characters, he tends to play each one with a very distinctive voice. To portray the titular street judge in Dredd, he put on a gravelly lilt, which was inspired by Dirty Harry. His performance as Bones in Star Trek was so uncannily similar to his predecessor, DeForest Kelly, his co-star, Leonard Nimoy was moved to tears.
So, it's evident Urban has a diverse vocal range. (Well, apart, from his Cockney accent in The Boys, which is so bad, many viewers thought it was Australian). Because he varies his voice so often in his performances, most people don't have a clue what he sounds like. Does he have an American accent? British? Canadian?
Nope. Urban was born in Wellington, New Zealand and speaks in a gentle Kiwi accent. Considering he tends to be cast as loud, brash characters, it's so odd to see him speaking during interviews in such a friendly dialect.
