10 Actors Who Suffered The Most In 2017

7. Ben Affleck

Poor Ben Affleck. What a crazy year he's had, and it's not like he's even been miscast or starred in any truly awful movies, but that hasn't stopped 2017 being a total downer for him.

First off, his latest directorial effort, the period crime thriller Live by Night, entered wide release and received heavily mixed reviews, while grossing only around a quarter of its $90 million budget and destroying all that pre-release Oscar buzz in the process.

Then came Justice League, which was led by persistent reports that Affleck was planning to quietly leave the Batman role after the blockbuster's release, due to him dropping out of directing The Batman earlier in the year.

Affleck insisted that he wasn't going anywhere, but following his disappointingly flat performance in Justice League combined with the film's mixed critical response and atrocious box office, new reports reiterate that Warner Bros. is already courting replacements.

This is a real shame, because Affleck was fantastic as both Batman and Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman, and to see his tenure likely curtailed so quickly feels like a huge waste.

All this is without even mentioning his several stints in rehab over the last year to deal with alcohol dependency. Hopefully Affleck can just draw a line under the madness of the last 12 months in particular and focus on a much-improved 2018.

Though Affleck has no movies currently in the works next year, perhaps some time away from the Hollywood circus will do his health some good.
