10 Actors Who Suffered The Most In 2017
6. Charlie Hunnam
Charlie Hunnam took an admirable stab at succeeding in both the art-house and blockbuster arenas this year, though sadly, none of it quite worked in the way he clearly hoped.
Hunnam first appeared in James Gray's moody adventure film The Lost City of Z, which only barely grossed half its $30 million price tag despite strong reviews. At least Hunnam received warm notices for his performance, even if the film cratered with general audiences.
The actor followed up by starring in Guy Ritchie's wildly over-budgeted $175 million tentpole King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The film garnered predominantly negative reviews and didn't even crack $150 million worldwide, putting a severe dent in Hunnam's box office bankability.
Furthermore, Hunnam decided not to appear in the upcoming Pacific Rim: Uprising, instead opting to star in a remake of the classic 1973 prison break movie Papillon, which scored wildly mixed festival reviews and probably won't even get a major theatrical release next year.
And to think, Hunnam could've clawed back some of his box office goodwill with the far safer bet of a Pacific Rim sequel, but instead, he hasn't got a single movie on the cards for 2018 so far.
