10 Actors Who Thought They Were Playing Other Comic Book Villains

Who He Was Supposed To Play: As we saw in The Dark Knight, Harvey Dent is a troubled character who befalls tragedy. After becoming Two-Face, he struggles with his past sense of righteousness and his new, twisted sense of justice. He’s a complex, layered character, and far less cartoonish that his appearance might suggest.

Who He Really Played: As was the folly of so many actors in the Joel Schumacher films, Jones apparently thought that every Batman villain ought to be like the Joker. Gone was the dark nature of the character, instead replaced with a cackling laugh and a simple desire for chaos.

Two-Face isn’t supposed to be a prankster who showboats, that’s the Joker’s deal, but that’s exactly how Jones handled him. He’s sadistic, quick to violence, and lacks the subtleties that Two-Face ought to have. There was definitely some problems with Batman Forever’s script but it’s still apparent that Jones should have toned down his performance and gone for a more nuanced, faithful take on the character, instead of trying to recreate what Jack Nicholson had just accomplished.
