Co-star Rupert Grint has also come out saying he considered quitting the Harry Potter franchise as it became "a bit of a drag", but Emma Watson came seriously close to quitting prior to renewing her contract after Order of the Phoenix.

Education became increasingly important to Watson as she got older, and upon enrolling at Brown University in 2009, she almost quit the franchise to focus on school instead. She was becoming increasingly disillusioned with fame too, saying in an interview that she "didn’t connect with the person" looking back at her in the mirror.

But Watson was able to reconcile both her desire to pursue further education and finishing the franchise, and began to enjoy the prospect of studying on set rather than having a full university experience. Her experience of being homeschooled from such a young age meant she could take control of her education in her own way, and she continued in her role as Hermione through to the end of the series.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
