10 Actors Who Were Injured In Dumb Ways On Set

5. Hugh Jackman

However, he was not so experienced in the role, and the reason that this injury features on this list is because the cause should have been the one thing he was looking out for. Towards the climax of the film, a battle between Wolverine and Mystique, he manages to catch a chain that is swung at him by the villainous shape-shifter in his trademark adamantium-laced claws. Unfortunately for Jackman as this was the first film the prop designers weren't entirely knowledgeable to the durability of the claws, which wouldn't have been a problem if the Australian had been able to grow the claws as he had previously been requested, and so they came loose and scratched the actor close to his eye. Of course, if the blade had damaged his eye, it would have left him slightly less desirable to women, which should make me and other men feel good but he's such a nice bloke that you'd just feel sorry for him. And knowing him he'd probably suit an eye-patch. But the super-mutant within him must have over-powered his kind-hearted nature during that scene because after he was scratched, he proceeded to accidentally stab Rebecca Romjin's stunt double in the arm in another take. That act of retribution just shows how good a method actor Jackman is.
