10 Actors Who Were REJECTED For Recent Movies (And Why)
7. Adam Sandler - Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania
The Role: Protagonist Count "Drac" Dracula, the founder of Hotel Transylvania and the hit animated series' protagonist, as played by Adam Sandler in the first three movies and voice actor-impressionist Brian Hull in the recent fourth.
Why He Was Rejected: Though neither Sandler nor the filmmakers have themselves confirmed the reason for Sandler's departure from the role after three successful movies, online chatter seems to suggest it was most likely due to Sandler's current contract with Netflix.
The streamer signed Sandler for a gargantuan $250 million deal to produce four movies, and it's been suggested that the wider terms of the contract could've limited his work elsewhere.
After all, since Sandler began producing content for Netflix in 2015, almost everything he's made has been released by the streamer, with the sole exceptions being Hotel Transylvania 3 and Uncut Gems.
It's highly probable that Sandler was locked into a three-picture deal for the original Hotel Transylvania trilogy, and so when time came to negotiate for the fourth movie, he was either unable to appear or simply too busy with Netflix projects to sign on.
Curiously Sandler's co-star Kevin James, who voiced Frankenstein in the original trilogy and also has his own Netflix deal, didn't return either. Take from that what you will.
Transformania went on to receive wildly mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, with many bemoaning Sandler's absence.
