10 Actors Who Will Definitely Ruin Upcoming Movies
1. Amber Heard - Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom
In light of Johnny Depp's dismissal from the third Fantastic Beasts film, there have also been calls for Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard to receive her marching papers from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Given the many credible accusations of abuse levelled against Heard as were fielded at Depp, to ask one actor to resign but not the other was perceived by many as a double standard, that domestic violence against men isn't taken as seriously as it is against women.
Obviously in Depp's case he weathered the additional storm of losing a defamation case which made it much easier for Warner Bros. to ask him to leave, while Heard hasn't suffered quite the same blow to her reputation.
Despite campaigns for Heard to be axed, producer Peter Safran confirmed earlier this year that Heard is sticking around for the sequel, in an attempt to "do what's right for the film."
So, when Aquaman 2 releases late next year, Heard will indeed reprise the role of Mera, a not-remotely-iconic part that many fans felt could've easily been recast without causing upset.
There were even rumours earlier this year that Heard had been replaced by Emilia Clarke, but they turned out to be untrue.
While Mera wasn't a frontline character like Aquaman (Jason Momoa) himself in the first film, it's widely expected that she will have a much larger part in the sequel, and given that the fan vitriol for Heard's alleged conduct hasn't died down much at all, it's tough to see it abating before Aquaman 2's release.
Whether or not possible boycotts will actually do enough to move the box office needle, Heard's involvement adds a massive weight of baggage around the movie's neck, and is sure to create some major headaches for Warner Bros. while promoting the film.
