10 Actors Who Will Ruin 2020 Films

7. Jack Whitehall - Jungle Cruise

Jack Whitehall is certainly an entertaining comedian, though he's sure to face plenty of resistance as he attempts to break into Hollywood with his supporting role in Disney's upcoming adventure tentpole Jungle Cruise.

Whitehall will play McGregor Houghton, the younger brother of Emily Blunt's female lead Lily Houghton, and will reportedly be the second-ever openly gay character to appear in a Disney film.

This news immediately sparked a backlash given that Whitehall himself isn't gay, but more specifically that his character will reportedly be something of a camp stereotype.

More worryingly, the recent first trailer for the movie only featured a few brief shots of Whitehall without him speaking a single word, perhaps "confirming" that he will indeed be playing an iffy gay stereotype.

Then again, with the film undergoing reshoots last summer, many months after this controversy started, it's at least possible that Whitehall's character has been retooled in post-production.

But given Disney's disappointing approach to diversity and inclusivity across their movies, it'd foolish to expect a sensitive or respectful treatment here.
