10 Actors You Never Knew Directed A Movie

2. Drew Barrymore - Whip It (2009)

After beginning her career in the movie business as a child actor, there's not a lot the incredible Drew Barrymore hasn't done, even if her directing credits are limited to one movie called Whip It.

The movie, based on a novel called Derby Girl, follows the small town misfit Bliss Cavendar as she tries to find direction in life by joining a roller derby team called the Hurl Scouts. Despite the protests of her mother, who wants her to follow in her footsteps of being a beauty queen, Bliss continues to find a new lease of life in sport and subsequently in her life.

If you've seen any sports drama, then you've seen Whip It. Rife with clichés and familiar beats, the movie is lacking in originality. That being said, it's still a light hearted fluffy sports drama that will make you smile. With a supporting cast of Jimmy Fallon, Alia Shawkat, and Kristen Wiig, you could really do a lot worse.
