10 Adored Movie Characters You'd Learn to Hate in Real Life

5. Tony Stark - Iron Man

Who He Is in the Movie: The Genius, Playboy, Billionaire Philanthropist Superhero Who He Is in Real Life: The Friend Who Always Talks Down to You The movies do not shy away from the fact that practically everyone hates dealing with Tony Stark. "Mr. Stark displays textbook narcissism? ...agreed." And it all boils down to the fact that like Sherlock Holmes, it is a rare occasion when Tony is wrong about something. However, unlike Holmes, Stark loves to be flamboyant about it. I just remembered that Downey Jr. just played Sherlock Holmes, too. Huh. Anyway, he's always going to be "above" you, talking down as if you're some sort of dolt, because it's his nature. He doesn't dislike you, doesn't find you a complete nuisance or anything like that, he just doesn't know a different way to speak. And that's a schtick you'll get over incredibly quickly. Because talking as if life owes you something because of your brilliance is a good way to get alone real fast.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
