10 Alternate Timeline Movies The MCU Should Make
Endgame has opened a lot of new doors.
Alternate timelines in comic books are nothing new. In addition to the main Earth in the Marvel Universe (Earth 616), there are dozens of other realities, universes, and timelines. However, in the movies this would be something relatively new.
The second Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer has teased the existence of the multi-verse thanks to the snap (either Thanos' or Hulk's or both), and with so much time travel through Avengers Endgame, alternate timelines in the MCU are not so far fetched as they would have been a few years ago.
These timelines give Marvel the opportunity to explore different ideas and stories without affecting the main continuity and also allows them to play with certain 'what-if' scenarios. With such a vast universe already established over the last ten plus years, there is almost limitless potential for alternate timeline stories.
These may have been specifically set up during the time jumping in Endgame, they may be one of the 14 million alternate futures Doctor Strange saw during Infinity War, or they may be a result of the snap. Either way, these movies would take place outside the established continuity and would add another rich layer to MCU moving forward.
10. Stinger
In Avengers Infinity War, Doctor Strange saw 14, 000, 605 alternate timelines, and while we don't know in exactly how many of these scenarios the rat walked over the controls of the van to release Scott from the Quantum Realm, it's fair assume that in at least a few million it didn't. Thus, leaving Ant-Man stranded and assumed to be dusted by the snap.
This would leave Cassie Lang to grow up without her father, as she did in the five year time jump in Endgame. With her neighborhood now run down and her father gone, what if Cassie stumbled across some old Ant-Man equipment and decided to carry on Scott's legacy in his absence.
In the comics, Cassie deliberately exposes herself to Pym Particles in order to gain powers like her father and she takes on the alter-ego of Stinger. This could be a relatively grounded movie about Cassie trying to better her community rather than saving the universe. Kind of a friendly, neighborhood Stinger.
This could be the beginning of a path to a Young Avengers team up with the likes of Ty Simpkins as Iron Lad and Kate Bishop should she be introduced to the MCU.
