10 Amazing Costume Designs From Mediocre Films

1. Padme Amidala - The Star Wars Prequels

Barring the fact that some people like the Prequels more than the Originals (having grown up with them and having a soft spot for them and their flaws), Star Wars Episodes 1-3 have their fair share of issues both in story and in an excess of wonky special effects.

However, if there's one element that remains one of the most iconic and beautiful visuals in the entire franchise, it is the many outfits of Queen and Senator Padme Amidala. It's hard to narrow it down to one film, since Queen and Senator Amidala has been serving looks from start to finish, but Trisha Biggar's work does a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to worldbuilding in these films, in a culturally diverse, somewhat optimistic time before the Empire when the Jedi were still at their height.

This isn't even mentioning how the costumes in these films have become visual shorthand for Star Wars as a whole, arguably more so than the more reserved, pragmatic designs of the original trilogy. With Amidala at the helm, the costume designs for these films are the best of the lot, even if the quality of the actual films have long been debated.
