10 Amazing Movie Monologues

2. There Will Be Blood - Drainage Speech

Fight Club Tyler Durden Brad Pitt
Paramount Vantage

Daniel Day-Lewis is the shining star in There Will Be Blood, and he showcases some of the best acting that can be found anywhere. He takes the reins of an oil baron who will do anything to see his business succeed. Day-Lewis owns every scene of the movie, and while the infamous "I'm an oil man" speech is fantastic, the drainage scene in the finale of the movie is downright phenomenal.

Day-Lewis gets the upper hand on a small time priest that has been making life difficult for him throughout the film. While Day-Lewis becomes slowly unhinged throughout the movie, it all comes boiling to a head in this amazing scene.

He ruins all of the priest's hopes and dreams, and the hate in his eyes as he does it is shocking.

The words spill out of him out with such a vile and poisonous tone, as he shatters everything that this priest cares about. He is practically foaming at the mouth with rage, and the priest is cowering in fear hoping for it to stop. This monologue and the actions that follow lead directly into the credits of the movie, and it was the perfect way to end such a great movie.
