10 Amazing Movie Roles Ruined By Terrible Actors
2. Deena Jones - Beyonce Knowles (Dreamgirls)
There are few contemporary musicians who are as influential as Beyonce Knowles. The former Destiny's Child member has gone from strength to strength in the decades since her debut and is renowned the world over for her vocals and performance abilities.
Unfortunately, this talent does not extend to her acting abilities, as the Drunk in Love singer has repeatedly shown that the discipline does not come naturally to her. This is especially true in 2006's Dreamgirls, where the musical powerhouse falls flat while going against the likes of Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and an Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson.
The Dreams' lead singer's journey from a shy upcoming singer to a jaded music idol was compelling but the iconic singer lacked the acting chops to effectively convey Jones' growth, internal and external turmoil, and relationships with characters such as Effie White (Hudson) and Curtis Taylor (Foxx).
Her scenes with these two in particular serve to highlight her limitations as an actress, as she comes across as wooden compared to the fiery presence of Foxx and Hudson.
Fortunately, Knowles is far from reliant on her acting career, and if her work on Black is King is any indication, she might have a promising career as a director.
