10 Amazing Movies Under 90 Minutes Long
7. Army Of Darkness
Runtime: 81 minutes
Every movie in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise is rapidly paced and you can't really go wrong with any of them, but Army Of Darkness' unique fish-out-of-water concept makes it the freshest out of the bunch.
The movie finds Ash, who - after the events of Evil Dead II - has been transported to the Middle Ages. Naturally, with his gun in hand, he's hailed as a hero, but after he unwittingly awakens the titular army, Ash must lead the humans against the Deadites in order to be transported back to the future.
Army Of Darkness is a bonkers movie, and it completely embraces the ridiculousness of its premise. There are evil clones of Ash, flying Deadites, and a minute-long scene of Ash describing his gun (and where you can purchase one) to a group of understandably oblivious townsfolk. But because Bruce Campbell fully commits to his oddball character, and Raimi doesn't attempt to overly dramatize anything, you'll buy every second.
Or to put it another way, it knows how silly it is, and it has a lot of fun with itself and its own ideas. And that makes it extremely easy to enjoy.
