10 Amazing Unmade Steven Spielberg Films

6. Halo

Steven Spielberg is a name synonymous with film, but the guy has fingers in a lot of pies. For much of the nineties he ruled over children's television with the various Warner Bros cartoons that bore his name, and around the same time he got heavily into video games - even starring in one, a movie-making simulator called Steven Spielberg's Director's Chair. He also came up with Medal of Honour and Boom Blox, don't you know. That's probably what lead him to trying to get the film rights to Halo a few years ago. The Halo movie has been in Development Hell since the series started, with District 9 director Neill Blomkamp originally in the director's chair with Peter Jackson producing. That fell through (mainly due to the ballooning budget, apparently), and in 2009 Spielberg swooped in to try and pinch the rights. Apparently he's setting it up as a TV series at Showtime now, but the plans for Microsoft to make their own show might get in the way of that. Still, imagine a sci-fi Saving Private Ryan by the man himself...
