Between Honey Boy and The Peanut Butter Falcon, Shia LaBeouf had a cracking 2019, with the latter being not only a great movie, but one of the better-crafted feel-good movies of the last few years.

A coming-of-age road movie following a troubled drifter (LaBeouf) who befriends a young man with Down syndrome (Zack Gottsagen), this is a just-sweet-enough romp that benefits from the outstanding chemistry between its two stars.

A study of two diametrically opposed yet equally likeable characters, it's a rare film that depicts those afflicted with Down syndrome without patronising them, and there's not a moment in the film that doesn't feel resolutely authentic.

In supporting roles, Dakota Johnson, Thomas Haden Church, and WWE legends Mick Foley and Jake Roberts are also very good. Just try hating this film - it's the cinematic equivalent of a big, warm blanket.
