10 Awesome Actors Who Totally Lost Their Momentum
3. Diego Luna
Diego Luna’s fantastic lead male performance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story back in 2016 opened the doors for a plethora of opportunities to become the leading man the franchise had seemingly invited him to be.
And it wasn’t that Luna didn’t take them; he signed on to play the lead in the currently inactive remake of Scarface not long after his acclaimed role in the juggernaut. But the production has failed to see the light of day despite constant attempts to start, and it’s hard to say if we’ll ever see this project come to fruition.
Since Rogue One, Luna’s slate of films has been disappointing. A role in the panned Flatliners and a currently unreleased Woody Allen film are the only projects he’s credited with.
Luna has found TV success in the Narcos sequel series for Netflix, but the movie opportunities Luna seemingly had post-Rogue One fame dried up pretty quickly, with his only large potential role being shelved for over two years. Perhaps the upcoming Disney Plus show based around his Rogue One character Cassian Andor can give him a second chance at movie stardom.
