8. What Women Want (2000)

So here's where I throw down any credibility that I might have attained writing about film for a living, but I'm seriously convinced that
What Women Want had a dynamite concept, and nobody or nothin' can make me change my mind. Think on it for a second: What would happen if you could read women's thoughts? I mean, the fact that pretty much every man would kill to have that ability in real life makes this idea a marketable one. I just think that that they went the
wrong way: it should've been aimed towards the male demographic instead. Hear me out. Imagine a twisted version of this movie with Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill or somebody of that calibre suddenly waking up with the ability to hear women's thoughts. Now make it an R-rated flick. The first scene occurs when the main character hears his mom having sexy thoughts about a neighbour or something. That's sort of funny, isn't it? I mean, it has the
potential to be funny, in a gross-out, Judd Apatow kind of way, at least. What we got with the original, "normal" version of this story was a generic rom-com that tried to teach us a lesson, and to be frank, we didn't want to hear it, did we? But Judd Apatow's
What Women Want will be great, and that's why somebody is going to read this and start making it right now. Thank you.
