10 Awesome Fan Theories That Improve Already Great Films
6. Remy Is All In Linguini's Mind - Ratatouille
The Theory: Ratatouille is the story of a rat with extremely developed taste buds (a sort of rodent X-Man) who finds a way to, through a surrogate, cook in one of the biggest kitchens in Paris, his sublime food eventually winning over even the most particular food critic in the city. Or, if you wanted, it could be the story of a downtrodden guy who's lost his parents who conjures up a smart rat who gives him the confidence to go all in and become a great chef. OK, so we did one imaginary theory, but this one's a real, if improbable, doozy. How It Improves The Film: It's easy with Ratatouille to focus entirely on the journey of Remy and eye-opening experience of food critic Ego and push the dorkish Linguini's personal development to the side. This theory puts the focus on the humans and creates an equally uplifting story. It's obviously unlikely to actually be real given the amount of focus the film puts on the lives of rats it's hard to believe this is actually true, but if you wanted to watch one of Pixar's best films from a different angle this is the one of the best.
