10 Awesome Fan Theories That Improve The X-Men Movies
8. Kitty Pryde Simply Developed A Secondary Mutation
When Kitty Pryde appeared in X-Men: Days Of Future Past as the character responsible for sending Wolverine's consciousness back in time so that he could inhabit his own body back in 1973, questions were asked. Pryde - or Shadowcat, if you prefer - had previously only displayed an ability to phased through solid objects in the X-Men movies that came before Days Of Future Past, so fans wondered why on Earth she had suddenly developed this new power and why she hadn't used it before. However, some fans were totally okay with the idea and put it down to the concept of secondary mutations - a concept that isn't unheard of in the comics. Grant Morrisons seminal run on New X-Men saw several mutants suddenly gaining secondary mutations - all of which were generally related in some way to their primary mutation. Given that Pryde had previously been seen phasing the physical bodies of other mutants through solid objects, the leap to her "phasing" another mutant's consciousness through time isn't that unrealistic in some fans' eyes. When you look at it like that, it makes the sudden appearance of that power seem a lot less silly.
