10 Awesome Fan Theories That Improve The X-Men Movies

7. The Cure In The Last Stand Didn't Work As It Was Initially Thought To

X-Men: Days Of Future Past saw Magneto back to full power in the Sentinel-controlled future. The most recent appearance he had made prior to that (in terms of the timeline, not in terms of movies) was at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, when Beast had plunged several syringes containing the mutant "cure" into his chest, which resulted in the loss of his powers - though he was seen being able to ever so slightly move a chess piece at the movie's climax. So how had he suddenly regained the full extent of his powers? Well, instead of completely forgetting that X-Men: The Last Stand happened - which would have made everyone's time spent watching it a complete waste - there is a theory that the "cure" didn't work quite how the characters in the movie expected it to. The movie didn't show the characters who had been effected by the "cure" any more than a few days after they'd used it and, therefore, it could be the case that it wears off after a while. It's a very simple explanation that makes sense of the fact that Magneto had seemingly inexplicably regained his powers, in spite of the fact that an entire movie had been spent focusing on the anti-mutagen that removed them.
